Sustainability

Light Motif is an industry leader in sustainable delivery. We take a scientific, measurable approach to reducing environmental impact—delivering proven results, not just promises.

Climate Action in Events

Events have always been about creating moments that matter. Today, those moments exist within a world increasingly affected by climate change. In 2026, as climate challenges intensify, the way events are planned and delivered is under increasing scrutiny. From energy used, to materials and waste, the industry has a responsibility to consider not just the impact events have on people, but the impact they have on the planet and how that can be reduced.

Our Approach

Light Motif combines scientific expertise from its in-house team to take a data-driven, measurable approach to reducing environmental impact – delivering proven results, not just promises.

We are actively transforming our operations to reduce environmental impact by:

Addressing our direct emissions

Guiding our clients to make sustainable choices

Collaborating with suppliers committed to sustainability

Embedding responsible practices across our event lifecycle

Training senior managers as certified Carbon Literacy trainers to deliver staff training across the organisation

Monitoring energy and fuel usage as part of monthly management reports

Favoring carbon offsetting mechanisms that impact the UK and local area, such as woodland reforesting and meadow rewilding schemes

Our Commitment

Since signing the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge, with a goal of reaching net zero by 2035, we have taken meaningful steps to drive change with continuous monitoring and improvement to our sustainability strategy, including:

  • To operate a zero waste-to-landfill policy
  • To carbon offset through Make it Wild a rewilding and conservation organisation
  • To leverage data insights and target the most impactful emission reductions
  • To develop a Carbon Calculator that shows the carbon impact for each individual event
  • To eliminate our all-remaining non-LED/energy efficient fixture by the end of 2026
  • To launch waste reduction initiatives

Results to date

We have offset 38T of carbon with Make it Wild over the last two years.

Our vehicle emissions have fallen 50% over the last year.

Our recycled homewares initiative has saved 750kg of CO2 emissions.

We operate as zero waste-to-landfill company, prioritising reduction at source.

Looking Ahead

Our journey is ongoing. By combining innovation, data and strong partnerships, we are focused on reducing our carbon footprint while continuing to deliver impactful events.

  • Heating – electric/solar/heat pump replacement to reduce gas usage
  • Assessing standby energy usage to reduce baseline energy usage in future
  • Changing our vehicles to electric or similar environmentally friendly fuels

Additionally, we are currently preparing to apply for B-Corp certification, with an intended accreditation by 2027.
